Our Educational Plan

The educational strategy is defined by an annual didactic plan, created by the teacher’s council. The plan is composed of various didactic units (Unità Didattiche di Apprendimento – UdA), which are achieved through play, social skill development, observation and discovery. It is a gradual process of acquisition which allows our children to gain the wide range of skills necessary for the transition to primary school. The school utilizes accurate evaluation and self-evaluation processes in order to orient its methods towards continual improvement. From From social interaction tostorytelling from the observation of nature nature and care of ourvegetable gardensto robotics, we seek to create learning experiences which will allow children to face the challenges of today’s world, by engaging with the variety of experiences and realities of our world.

Our greatest satisfaction is our children’s happiness. The relationship with parents, with whom our teachers plan individual parent-teacher meetings, helps the staff to improve every year. In the 2018/19 academic year, the school received an average evaluation of 8.85/10.

Rubinato Nursery School fosters an environment of inclusion, in which individual backgrounds, needs and experiences are respected. In order to help children from non-Italian backgrounds, our school creates special activities to foster inclusion.

Our Teachers

Maestra Carla

My name is Carla and I have been teaching at Rubinato since 1988, and since 1998 I have been responsible for didactic coordination. In 2019 I became Head Teacher, while continuing some direct didactic activities with the children. We truly are a family here, after working together for so many years. We share the same educational values and principles, and I think this is our strength. I believe that the foundation of education is respect for others, and mutual trust and cooperation between our school and families. We have a common goal of raising children who feel safe and happy.

Maestra Monica

My name is Monica, and I have many years of experience teaching at nursery schools, to which I have brought my genuine passion for working with children. Each child whom I’ve met has left a mark and contributed to my professional development. I’ve worked at Rubinato since 2015, and from the very beginning I’ve found an environment which is both warm and familiar but also incredibly stimulating.

Maestra Anna

My name is Anna, I’m am an educator and I’ve been working for 15 years in the educational field on a variety of projects and with diverse age groups. My introduction to Rubinato happened in 2014 with a small project based on play time, and only gave me limited opportunity to interact with the full-time teaching staff, but it was enough to understand that the school was a place where I could find what I believe to be fundamental in an educational and professional environment: care and passion for teaching, a desire to grow together in a welcoming atmosphere, the ability to truly see each child and, with them, look towards the future.

Maestra Roberta

I'm the mother of Marta, nine years old, and Theo, 7 years old. Our years at Rubinato were very happy ones, enriched with many positive initiatives. More than anything though, I felt calm because it was as if my children were at home. This is how we remember our experience.

Projects

Al fine di sostenere i bambini e le bambine nella costruzione della propria identità, sviluppare le potenzialità individuali e consolidare le abilità di base all’interno del piano annuale delle attività vengono inseriti alcuni Didactic projectsare integrated annually, based on the age of the children, with the aim of supporting children in the definition of their own identities, developing and encouraging individual talents, and consolidating the foundational skills of the annual didactic plan. in base all’età dei bambini, a seconda degli obiettivi da raggiungere.

The Nature Project

Getting to know the environment is of the most important experiences for any child, and it is precisely for this reason that the school believes in the value of the Nature Project. The children have the opportunity to engage directly with the natural world while experimenting with the developmental phases of plants from seed to plant. This activity helps young ones to develop a range of skills from observation and exploration to cultivation. Through caring for different kinds of plants, they learn to recognize life cycles and develop deeper respect for the world which surrounds them, an awareness which is further encouraged by projects aimed at understanding and promoting recycling and reuse.

The Library Projectiblioteca

Introducing children to the world of books is a unique opportunity for growth. Before even learning to read, our young ones experiment with reading through the senses, including looking, touching, and smelling. Books offer so many possibilities as objects apart from their primary function as the container of stories. di una più articolata comunicazione. I libri contribuiscono a creare spazi comuni di esperienza, di conoscenza, di condivisione, di inclusione e di integrazione. La scuola propone la possibilità di scegliere e prendere in prestito dei libri, con cadenza Moreover, storytelling helps to enrich children’s wealth of knowledge and vocabulary with the aim of developing more articulate communication. Books contribute to the creation of spaces of shared communication, inclusion, and integration. The school gives children the weekly opportunity to choose books to borrow and share with their parents at home.

The EducationalRobotics Project

Nowadays children live in a world which is increasingly digital, and with this in mind, Rubinato Nursery School has decided to open its doors to technology through a constructivist didactical approach which encourages the teaching of “doing” and experimentation. With the term educational robotics, we don’t mean the study of robots as a subject, but as a didactical means. The objective is not the creation of future programmers, but rather to encourage the development of computational and problem-solving skills, even those which are relatively complex, and the application of logic. Robotics is an important instrument in the acquisition of a variety of skills including spatial perception, orientation, hand-eye coordination, and storytelling. Morevoer, Educational Robotics facilitates the inclusion of children with special educational needs.

The Inclusion Projectnclusione

At Rubinato we believe in the values of equality and respect, and we strive to create an environment of inclusion in which each child’s uniqueness and individuality is respected. Inclusion is promoted in a playful way, with activities aimed at encouraging cooperation and integration in order to improve self-esteem and educational motivation. We seek to reduce educational, emotional, and social difficulty, and, in doing so, improve motivation for learning and school life. This is done in parallel with activities organized by Social Service entities in the local community. Teamwork is essential in achieving the best results. ottenere i massimi risultati.

The Field Trip Project

Field trips create opportunities for discovery, observation, and research in natural and social environments. These are important occasions for learning aimed at acquiring the sense of belonging and the desire to protect our cultural and environmental heritage. Depending on the annual didactic plan, the children might be accompanied on trips to natural environments, participate in workshops, visit exhibitions, or attend theatrical performances.  Some of these trips include visits to didactic farms, sports centers, natural parks, Museo di Santa Caterina, Ca’ dei Carraresi, Ca’ da Noal, the Children’s Art Biennial, the Teatro Comunale, the Teatro Sant’Anna, as well as churches and historic buildings.

The Health and Safety Project

The school organizes educational programs connected to health and safety in order to develop basic awareness through activities which encourage movement but also first aid, road safety, and safety education in different contexts.

The Pre-Reading and Pre-Math Project
(for our third-year students)

In order to prepare our third-year students for the transition into primary school, a variety of activities are organized to stimulate curiosity towards written language but also towards the mechanisms which regulate oral language, encouraging our young ones to reflect on the importance of language and its uses. Our teachers also organize projects which aim to introduce children to numbers in their role as both symbols and useful instruments.

Progetto The Continuity Project

Rubinato Nursery School believes in the power of teamwork and works with other nursery schools to encourage a smooth start for our little ones. l’accoglienza dei piccoli e con le scuole primarie per accompagnare i grandi ad affrontare con serenità la nuova We also work with local primary schools to prepare our third-year students for the transition to primary school. The school also organizes opportunities for families to meet with the school staff, to encourage a relationship based on cooperation and communication. During the first months after starting school, children’s serenity is fundamental. Respecting each student’s individual needs is at the basis of every activity. Developing a sense of independence, breaking away from the parent figure and becoming part of a school community requires patience and care and needs to be achieved with attention and reassurance. During the early weeks, routine is fundamental because it fosters a sense of security in children.

Progetto Nursing Home Project

Rubinato Nursery School promotes encounters between children and elderly residents of a local nursing home, moments when children and senior citizens can share experiences and laughter. The children create little crafts to give as gifts and learn songs to entertain the residents. Our visits are always very much appreciated by the residents, to whom the children bring a great deal of joy.

Our children spent several constructive and peaceful years at Rubinato, learning many things, but above all respect for the rules of a group and a shared space. We have very fond memories of the teachers, staff, and our time spent at the school.

Family Space

School and Families:
a partnership which enriches our educational mission

The school encourages the involvement of parents in a variety of activities including more structured didactic activities such as the school Carnival plays, the Family Festival in which parents help with the market, the raffle, the Mass, and games, Open Days, various educational initiatives, and class trips, and creating the Nativity crèche at Christmas. Mothers and fathers who wish to share experiences with their children are welcome to contribute. The “Parent Lessons” organized with the teachers, are another example of how our school encourages children and parents to grow together.

Education for Parents

The school organizes training courses for parents covering a range of topics dealing with education, health, and safety in order to create a concrete and effective collaborative relationship with our families.

Parents’ willingness to share their experiences and skills and become an active member of our community is very much encouraged.

Integrated Enrichment Activities

In addition to the annual didactic plan created by our teaching staff, our nursery school integrates age-appropriate enrichment activities which are led by qualified external teachers. These activities aim to integrate new skills and enrich the educational experience of our children.

Physical Education

Movement is one of the ways in which children discover the world. While playing and having fun, they discover and experiment with the world which surrounds them and with their own physical potential. This kind of experimentation is encouraged throughout the year through free, guided, and structured play and the use of age-appropriate equipment.

Physical education is offered to all children once a week, during the normal school day, from October to May. The children are split into small groups of the same age, and the activities take place in the school gym or in the garden.

English Language Lessons

English Language lessons are offered to children once a week, during the normal school day, from October to May. Parents are increasingly enthusiastic about introducing their children to the English language at an early age. Children are encouraged to engage with English in a playful way through songs, nursery rhymes, story-telling etc.

Children in the second and third year classes are organized into small groups of the same age. The activities are designed to foster use of English in a playful atmosphere, which motivates the children and stimulates their curiosity towards a linguistic code different from their native language. Body language and gesture support the children’s listening and comprehension skills. The objective is to bring our children closer to other peoples and cultures.

Music

When children express themselves with their voices and instruments, they develop fundamental communicative and creative skills. For this reason, music lessons have been included in the school’s annual didactic plan.

The activities are led an external professional with young-learner teaching experience. The music project runs from October to January for third-year students, and then first and second-year students begin in February. The music teacher works with the teachers to organize special events like the Christmas show and the Family Day Celebration. The lessons are organized for small groups divided by age and are designed to give children the opportunity to engage in self expression, exploring emotions and sensations through music and sound, to learn to enjoy sounds in and of themselves, music, noise, and silence. Additionally, the music lessons serve to help enrich language development, creativity, and to teach children to better know themselves and the world around them.
